From archaeology to architecture?

I'm new to Reddit, but was recommended coming here for advice. I have worked as an archaeologist in the U.K. for the last four years. I hate it, feel wholly rudderless in terms of career prospects, and am looking at other options.I've always had an interest in architecture and, to some extent, archaeology straddles the same subject matter as a discipline. I'm pretty practically minded, and my approach to archaeology has always been about people's experience of space, whether that's built environments or landscapes.I've written two articles in the last 18 months that really are more architecture- than archaeology-focused, so I'm now giving it more serious consideration as a career prospect. My quandary is: would this be worth pursuing at the age of 27? I'd want to see study through to being "an Architect", so wouldn't be going into practice until I'm 34 at the earliest. Is that a no-no in the profession? Would architecture practices take on a newbie in their mid thirties, or would there be an implicit ageism? Would I ever be able to set up my own practice at that age, being ten years behind graduates who enrolled in architecture after leaving school? If I could make it work, I think I'd love it, but I don't want to be 35, with three degrees and more debt, and be just as rudderless as I feel now. via /r/architecture http://ift.tt/2sQvITI
